SOMEHOW, some way, after 12 years, a plea deal was made to free Julian Assange from US persecution. His sentence was effectively converted into time served, and he was released to return to his home in Australia. A very belated victory for free speech journalism, but a real one. UPDATE: Assange has reached Australia. Like the sudden re-scheduling of marijuana, some are speculating this move was another Biden election ploy, and another petty way to stiff Trump (who was indicating he would pardon him upon getting re-elected). Biden’s DOJ reportedly also got a concession from WikiLeaks to delete all the DNC emails it had obtained (e.g., from Seth Rich).
